The Ballet of the National Theatre Brno from the Czech Republic is making a spectacular return to Tampere. The enchanting family-friendly Cinderella ballet will delight audiences at Tampere Hall with three performances on November 21–22, 2025. The production features new choreography by Markéta Pimek Habalová, blending humorous dance and heartfelt storytelling. Sergei Prokofiev’s stunning music will be performed by the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra.
Who will the lost glass slipper fit?
The beloved tale of Cinderella is one of the world’s oldest fairy tales, captivating both children and adults alike. In Tampere, the magic of the story comes alive through the skilled dancers of the Ballet of the National Theatre Brno, Sergei Prokofiev’s extraordinary music performed by the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, and breathtaking visual storytelling.
The Cinderella ballet will be performed at Tampere Hall in three shows on Friday, November 21, and Saturday, November 22, 2025. The production, which respects tradition while offering a fresh take on the art, combines the good fairy godmother, magical carriage, and the lost ball gown slipper in beautiful choreography and tender storytelling. The familiar story and delightful characters make Cinderella a perfect choice for a first-time ballet experience.
The choreography and direction of Brno National Theatre Ballet’s Cinderella is by Markéta Pimek Habalová, known for her ability to combine humorous dance with enchanting stage action. Habalová’s production premiered at the Mahen Theatre in Brno in May 2022. The full-scale production, complete with set designs and costumes, will be brought to Tampere Hall’s Main Auditorium from the Czech Republic. The set design is by David Janošek, and the costumes are designed by Pavel Knolle.
Prokofiev’s Cinderella – a classic in the ballet world
Sergei Prokofiev (1891–1953) is one of the most significant composers of the 20th century, and his works are among the most respected in the world of ballet. Prokofiev’s Cinderella premiered in 1945 and has since become the most commonly used music in Cinderella ballets worldwide. The joy and magic of the ballet reflect the composer’s travels to the West.
The music for Cinderella will be performed by Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra. The conductor and dancers will be announced later. The Ballet of National Theatre Brno last visited Tampere Hall in November 2019 with their Swan Lake production, which received praise from both audiences and critics.
“Our long-standing collaboration with the Ballet of National Theatre Brno and the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra continues with the charming, family-friendly Cinderella ballet. I’ve seen this magical production in Brno, and I’m confident it will captivate audiences of all ages. Cinderella is also a rare gem in Tampere”, says Suvi Leinonen, Artistic Director of Tampere Hall.
